as John Piper has put it, "God IS the Gospel"

Lately we've struggled over the fact that we've failed to communicate the reality of God's grace to our children, especially Jadon.  Earlier tonight, however, when we were talking about spending eternity together after this earthly life passes, we had a very interesting exchange:

Daddy: "Be there, Son.  Mommy & Daddy love you & want to spend eternity together with you.  Be sure to trust in Jesus; He's already bought you the tickets there [to heaven, God's kingdom]."
Jadon (correcting Daddy): "Well, Jesus IS the way to heaven."

Many thanks to our Lord Jesus, Who has used His Word, perhaps Pastor Dean-O & the Crossline children's ministry staff, perhaps Pastor Ray, perhaps a recently heard Focus on the Family's "Adventures in Odyssey" episode, & (… dare we say it?) perhaps even repentant Daddy & Mommy to get that message more deeply across to our beloved son.

no speakie Chanish?

Earlier today I was watching Jadon run laps around the basketball courts during the mass PE class at the start of their schoolday.  At the end as he was walking toward the classrooms, I told him through the chainlink fence: "Wo ai ni!"  He responded (& immediately caught his funny mistake), "Wo ai ni tambien!"

father & son la costa run

just measured our quickie exercise run <20 minutes before dinner, & it turns out it was a little over 1.4 miles.  so happy we could do it together, & jadon for one was all smiles even in spite of the slight stumble in one section.  our boy can really run... & his dad needs to exercise more!
