on the trip to Legoland with Akong & Ama

Jadon, being the night owl that he is (or WAS before early-bird kindergarten started), was the toughest to get up & going during his trip with Akong, Ama, Nathan, & Timothy to Legoland earlier this month.  Ama recounted to us that one morning, when they were continually trying to coax him out of slumber, he declared, "My mommy says I need to sleep so I can grow!"

For the record, that's what we usually say to him at NIGHT when he won't go down to sleep!

Fw: jadon

For the record, Jadon had declined to eat shaved ice with me at that time... funny Mowgli!

I arrived at Judson & Brown to see no students in the playground.
Apparently, it was way too hot and the teacher on duty had the
children stay inside an air conditioned classroom and watch a video.
I peeked in from the doorway to see Jadon wearing his colorful
froggy/animal hat. As Jadon walked towards me, the teacher said, "Oh,
this hat is much better. No strings to get stuck. He wore his hat
all day." I was proud of Jadon for wearing his hat at school without
my presence. Jadon said, "Hi mommy" and started digging into his
ziplock bag of M&Ms (leftover from graphing and math activites in
class earlier). I said, "No Jadon. No M&Ms. I don't want you to eat
M&Ms." As Jadon made a quick grab for a handful of M&Ms, I quickly
squeezed the bag to close off Jadon's hand from grabbing a handful.
When Jadon pulled his hand out of the bag, both he & I peered into his
hand as he opened it to see how many M&Ms he was able to quickly grab.
Jadon's hopeful look fell when he saw he only had one M&M but he
quickly popped it into his mouth before I could swip it from his hand.
My disgust turned to a smile when I saw he was only able to grab 1
M&M. I let him eat it but told him "No candy, okay?" Jadon asked,
"Can I eat it after my lunch?" I answered, "No. We don't eat candy
at home. School might be the only place you can eat candy." Hearing
me, the teacher said, "Would you like me to tell Jadon's teacher not
to let him eat candy at school?" I said, "Yes. That would be great."

As we were driving home, I said, "Jadon, I don't want you to eat candy
at school, okay? You have to let Ms. Ramirez know that you don't eat
candy, okay?"
Jadon: "How come other kids can eat it?"
Me: "Because their mommies let them."
Jadon: "How come their mommies let them?"
Me: "Because they don't know it's bad for them."
Jadon: "How come they don't know it's bad for them and you do?"
Me: "Because Mommy and daddy are doctors."
Jadon: (Mumbling under his breath) "I wish you weren't."

Sid had Jadon take off his clothes to get ready to put outdoor clothes
on (from the laundry room) to go to Auntie Ruth's for piano lesson.
However, Sid decided they had a little time before they had to leave
so he was going to have some shaved ice first. As Sid was sitting in
the family room eating his shaved ice, Jadon walked into the room and
said, "Daddy, I don't want to be naked like this." (Jadon had only
his underwear on because Sid had him take off his clothes in
preparation to put on outdoor clothes.) Sid asked Jadon, "You don't
want to be like Mowgli?" Jadon said, "No."

While Evangelina is a happy baby herself, we note that Jadon had a much easier laugh when he was a baby. On the other hand, while Jadon was a very wiggly baby, Evangelina is far MORE wiggly, wiggling as she tries to fall asleep, wiggling across the bed, wiggling in her sleep. Interestingly the person who makes Evangelina laugh the most is none other than Big Brother Jadon.
